Mr. Craig has taught Chemistry (Honors, Organic, and Advanced Placement (AP) Chemistry) since 1998. He graduated from Butler University in 1998. He is married to Janet (a Kindergarten Teacher at Maple Elementary in Avon) and has one son, Samuel (Plainfield HS class of 2019).
Mr. Craig started his teaching career at Avon High School in 1998, and then accepted an excellent opportunity to teach chemistry at Plainfield High School beginning in the fall of 2015. He started teaching AP Chemistry in 2005, and has taught Honors Chemistry (General Chemistry was the previous name for the course) since the beginning of his teaching career. Mr. Craig has also been working with Notre Dame and the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI) for the AP TipIN program. He goes to various high schools (around the state of Indiana) to help those AP Chemistry students understand / review concepts for AP Chemistry, and to help them prepare for the AP Chemistry exam. Mr. Craig has been working with this program since 2012.
Mr. Craig's hobbies include refereeing college football, umpiring high school baseball, and high school basketball. Also, he loves to run and bike. He has run (and finished) three marathons (26.2 miles), and 39 half-marathons (13.1 miles) - along with over 25,000 miles of running logged since 1992. Triathlons are fun too! Mr. Craig also coached cross country (and Track) at Avon High School for six years - and at the middle school (Avon Middle School South) for three years. Hopefully, one day, he will return to coaching... it was fun!
When Mr. Craig was in high school (Mattoon, Illinois - home of the "Fighting Green Waves"), he played football (captain senior year), basketball, baseball, and track - yes, back in the day, we played multiple sports during a school year.
